Build a vertical frame
A native 9:16 layout for TikTok, Instagram Live, and Telegram — not available for cam sites or subscription platforms.
Vertical (9:16) is only offered where a platform's native room is actually vertical: TikTok, Instagram Live, and Telegram (verified against the platform capability registry — no other connected platform has this flag). Cam sites and subscription platforms have a horizontal room; giving them 9:16 would mean black bars for the price of a whole extra encode, so the panel doesn't offer that choice there.
Turn it on
Set the layout to vertical in the platform's own settings. As soon as one platform goes vertical, the scene list gains its own 9:16 scene — a separate scene, not a crop of the wide one. Any additional vertical platform shares that same 9:16 scene.
A vertical frame is its own encode
The wide and vertical frames are composed by two separate processes. Only turn this on for platforms that actually need it — it isn't free the way the wide default is.
These platforms issue their own temporary keys
TikTok, Instagram Live, and Telegram each hand out a stream key from their own side rather than a stable one you set once — TikTok's lives roughly two hours, Instagram's four to seven, and Telegram's comes from a channel or group's own "start streaming" flow. Refresh the address from the platform before going live if it's been a while; that expiry is the platform's property, not something Stream controls.
How to verify it worked
The scene list shows the 9:16 scene once any platform goes vertical, and the vertical platform's fan-out uses that frame rather than a crop of the wide one.
